The Role
The Director of Operations oversees day-to-day operations with a strong focus on project execution, production flow, and cross-functional coordination. This role provides leadership across project management, engineering/detailing, fabrication, field operations, and safety, ensuring projects move efficiently from contract award through fabrication and installation. This position reports directly to the Owner and works closely with the President.

The Role
The Director of Operations oversees day-to-day operations with a strong focus on project execution, production flow, and cross-functional coordination. This role provides leadership across project management, engineering/detailing, fabrication, field operations, and safety, ensuring projects move efficiently from contract award through fabrication and installation. This position reports directly to the Owner and works closely with the President.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Project Management team, ensuring alignment of schedules, budgets, and production timelines
- Oversee weekly production and coordination meetings
- Coordinate fabrication schedules with the Shop Manager
- Oversee Engineering/Detailing and Field Operations through department leadership
- Establish and monitor operational performance metrics related to production, schedule adherence, and labor efficiency
- Lead monthly Safety Committee meetings and promote a strong safety culture
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, safety, and quality standards
- Partner with finance on operational budgets and cost controls
- Serve as a liaison across operations, sales, estimating, HR, and customer service
- 10+ years of progressive operations leadership experience in steel fabrication (Division 5 commercial construction).
- Proven experience managing project managers and production-driven environments
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or related Master’s preferred
- Competitive base salary starting at $150,000+, commensurate with experience
