Band Saw Operator-Production Shop Worker
Location: Walkersville, Maryland
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Job Type: Full-time, Non-Exempt
Pay: $20.00–$24.00 per hour, based on experience and demonstrated skills

Miscellaneous Metals, Inc. is a steel fabrication and installation company serving commercial construction projects throughout the region. We are seeking a dependable, safety-focused Band Saw Operator/Production Shop Worker to join our fabrication shop.
Primary Responsibilities
- Learn to safely operate an industrial band saw to cut steel to required measurements.
- Use a tape measure to measure and verify material before cutting.
- Learn to read cut lists, bills of material, and basic shop drawings.
- Identify, organize, label, and stage steel materials.
- Load and position materials for cutting.
- Learn to safely operate an overhead crane to move steel materials.
- Assist with receiving and unloading steel deliveries.
- Check completed cuts for accuracy.
- Keep your work area clean and organized.
- Follow shop safety procedures and wear required PPE.
- Assist with other shop and material-handling tasks as needed.
What We're Looking For
Required:
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure, including common fractional measurements.
- Basic math skills.
- Dependable attendance and ability to consistently report to work for a 6:00 a.m. start.
- Ability to follow instructions and learn new equipment and processes.
- Attention to detail and willingness to check your work for accuracy.
- Commitment to working safely.
Helpful, but not required:
- Manufacturing, fabrication, warehouse, construction, or material-handling experience.
- Experience operating saws, machinery, forklifts, cranes, or other industrial equipment.
- Basic blueprint or shop drawing knowledge.
- Experience working with steel or other construction materials.
We are willing to train candidates who have the right attitude, reliability, and basic measurement skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to alternate between sitting and standing during the workday.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, and pull as needed.
- Ability to lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to work safely around long, heavy, and irregularly shaped materials.
